Elroy-Sparta State Trail - Wisconsin

The Elroy-Sparta State Trail is part of the Wisconsin State Trail Systems. The Trail is 32 miles in length on abandoned Chicago-Northwestern Railroad bed and passes through three rock-tunnels. Kendall and Wilton tunnels are 1/4 mile long and the Norwalk tunnel 3/4 mile long. The trail is covered with limstone screenings and provides a smooth riding surface. Trail passes are required by riders 16 years and older. Flashlights and jackets are recommended when walking bikes through the tunnels.

Map Elroy-Sparta State Trail map from the kendall Depot Trail Headquarters. They are very helpful and have information about each town on the trial. For more info Contact the Headquarters at P.O. box 297, Kendall, WI 54638 608-463-7109

The Kendall Depot is a must to stop and visit, although the real features of the trail are the tunnels. Ted, Robin, and Joan rode this trip. It was a nice July day, not very humid. Check out our SAGBRAW 2001 - Day 2 for more photos on this Trail for a different view when it was very hot and humid with fog rolling out of the Tunnels.
