The Start

Beginning In Tomah, Wisconsin

We were excited to do our 2nd SAGBRAW tour. Spring would not come soon enough for us to get back out on our bikes. Our busy schedules limited our "training", but we did try to ride at least 3 days during the week, and one long ride each weekend starting early May. Robin rode her 10 miles to work (and of course 10 miles home), while Ted worked out an 11 mile loop he could ride in the morning. We figured if we survived the bluffs of the 2000 trip, we could handle most anything. Robin made a point of riding home in 97degree heat just to get used to riding in the warmer temps - little did she know how important that experience would prove to be.
Some of you found our web site through Bike Wisconsin, thanks for visiting. We were pleased to run in to several people this year who had visited our site for SAGBRAW 2000 and then decided to do the 2001 ride (I'm sure you figured that if these old fogies could do it, so could you and you are right). We put these pictures up mainly to share with our family and friends who are scattered around the country, but we are also happy to share with anyone looking for more info on the ride (we were looking for more info before we did our first one and could never find enough information). We are relatively new to the biking scene with this being only our 3rd season of biking. We have learned alot in 3 years and are having a ton of fun doing these rides. If you have any questions or comments for us, drop us an e-mail, we'd love to hear from you and share our excitement. Robin at rskline@hotmail.com or Ted at TBearKline@hotmail.com

We arrived in Sparta after our bus trip from Port Washington. It was hot and muggy. We set our tent up at the Community Center and hoped for a breeze. What's this? A big white pile of snow? Could this be? Robin goes to check it out. Compliments of the Zamboni, we have a snow ball fight. The bike vans have arrived and everyone scrambles to find their prized possesion that will carry them across the state.
